Titania and the UPV

Titania has its origins in the close collaboration that has taken place for over 15 years between the GE Energy Services companies and the Polytechnic University of Valencia, for both the performance of R&D&i projects and the direction of graduation projects and practical experiences at companies for students in their final year.

In this respect, since it was set up in 2007, Titania has collaborated with the UPV in both technology development and the incorporation of the technology generated, the aim being to provide its clients with services involving a high degree of specialisation and innovation.  This close cooperation between Titania and the UPV springs from the need to transfer the technology and know-how generated at the university to the realm of the company and industry.

On July 25th 2011, the Chairman of GE Energy Services, José Dominguis, and the Rector of the UPV, Juan Julià, signed an agreement by which Titania became the sixth company in which this university held shares

The UPV became a partner of the company Titania in keeping with the process of participation of this university in technology companies, within the framework of the Universities Act of 2001, modified in 2007, and the UPV Standard on the Creation of Companies on the basis of research results.

This UPV participation in companies occurs when significant use is made of technology generated at the university.  In exchange for the transfer under license of rights to use this technology, a relationship is established with the companies based on the university’s acquiring part of their share capital.

On December 13th 2012 Titania moved its headquarters to the UPV Polytechnic Complex for Innovation, creating the GE Energy Services Innovation Center, the objective of which is to bring together all the Group’s R&D personnel and resources and promote permanent contact with the R&D Institutes and Groups housed there, along with other university spin-offs and innovative companies.
